The Monitor
The first monitor used was in 1922, and it used monochrome cathode ray tube(CRT). The inventor of the CRT is William Crookes, and he invented the CRT in 1875. The next monitors that were used were colored, and they used colored CRTs, which were mainly used for televisions. The CRT was a technical breakthrough, and without it we wouldn't have televisions, phones, computers, or LCDs. LCDs were made by George H. Heilmeier, in 1964. CRT screens weighed about 14.1 kg, meanwhile LCD screens weigh about 4.7 kg. The display technology has come a long way, from thick displays to thin displays. In modern times, there is now the thin film transistor liquid crystal display(TFT-LCD). In modern day, monitors cost a few hundred dollars to around a thousand dollars each.
